Litework is a small, friendly family business, owned and run by Nigel & Jane Cousins.

This site has developed from seeing the difference that even the smallest of changes in your lifestyle can make to your wellbeing. Running a Rehabilitation and Therapy studio based near Wakefield, West Yorkshire has shown us time and time again that YOU can make such a big difference by simple, yet powerful changes. We work with people that have had many ailments, ranging from major cardiac surgeries, heart attacks, nervous breakdowns, diabetes, arthritis and many other 'life changing' conditions. (If you would like to know more about our studio in West Yorkshire please visit www.head4health.org.uk )

Many people who are faced with a medical condition feel powerless to help themselves, yet many health problems and ailments are aided, if not overcome by keeping yourself fit and active. Physical activity not only reduces the affects of many illnesses, but also lessens stress and anxiety, and boosts confidence in people and in their own abilities. Complementary therapies play a big role too. They can add the balance to your total wellbeing - as they nurture the emotional and spiritual side of your health. Add all three aspects together, and the WHOLE of you is fit, healthy and happy.

Pic of NigelNigel's relationship with exercise and fitness followed a serious car accident, when he suffered crushed vertebrae in his lower back. On medical advice, he joined a gym to build up the muscle in his lower back to ensure he did not encounter problems in later life. This led to a fascination not only with exercise, but also with the relationship between fitness and illnesses. He went on to study health related exercise and fitness at Leeds Metropolitan University and has since gone on to qualify with the BACR's (British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation) own tough and very stringent course, enabling him to work with people who have various forms of heart problems. Nigel is also qualified in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki I & II, Tera-Mai Reiki I & II, Seichem I & II, and is currently taking a 2 ½ year Diploma in Crystal Therapy with the Rowan Tree Academy, in North Yorkshire.

Pic of JaneJane is currently Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki I, II Degree, and III (intermediate), Tera-Mai Reiki I & II, Seichem I & II, a Professional Relaxation Therapist, a fitness instructor, and is currently studying Iridology and Nutritional Therapy.

After years of working 'in the wrong job', Jane was introduced to Reiki healing whilst suffering from a severe stress related illness. "My life (health and overall wellbeing) seemed to change for the better rather quickly, and I soon had a fascination for Reiki". Jane received her first Reiki degree in May 2001 and her second degree some months after. "I admit, I did not believe in my early days of receiving Reiki that it could have such a profound effect on your physical, emotional and spiritual health, but I am living proof of it! I have had it shown to me so many times in my clients too. Reiki can give so much, as can many of the Holistic and Complementary therapies available today. I now have an interest in many aspects of natural remedies, hence a desire to provide a site with lots of self help options and information in one place for people to refer to."

Pic of PaulPaul has always had an interest in all things weird and wonderful, alongside him working in an office environment since leaving school in 1986. As a feet firmly on the ground sort of person - being a fully-fledged football supporter, Paul was never quite sure how his interest could be assimilated into everyday life.

Paul met Nigel and Jane via his Wife, Father-in-law, and Mum who had all visited Litework's 'Head for Health' wellbeing studio and had either Gym training or in the case of his Mum a Reiki session with Jane. This tweaked Paul and although open minded he wasn't sure what to expect when his wife booked him a Reiki treatment with Jane - this coming after lots of manufactured stress at work and family illness. That one hour of Reiki was the light bulb moment for Paul - everything suddenly made more sense now and along with a brief introduction to the Crystalline Kingdom, turned his life around. Since then his energy work and understanding has moved forward considerably.

The reiki treatments had such a profound effect on Paul that he developed the desire to be able to work with this energy himself. As a result, Paul is now Reiki 2 attuned and works regularly at the Litework studio with Reiki Treatments and Reiki Shares. He is also studying for his Diploma in Crystal Therapy along with Nigel. Although still working in an office 9 to 5, Pauls love is with this 'alternative' side of life and he enjoys working on the Fayres with Litework. He is also looking at other treatments and when the time is right will add more to his holistic toolbox He is not sure where all this will take him but he's enjoying the ride anyway.

Luke - Every parent is biased about their own child – but Luke really is specialPic of Luke.  From a very young age he has always been considerate and helpful to others and loved the ‘great outdoors’.  Biking has been his passion for many years and he has done many miles on that tiny little saddle that pushbikes have!

Luke has an avid interest in crystals, wood and nature of all kinds – frequently coming home with injured birds and hedgehogs wrapped up in his t-shirt for us to care for!  He is also Reiki attuned which he uses whenever he is called upon to do so.  He loves the MBS fairs as much as we do and you may meet him there.

School was never easy as practical skills are his forte.  Having to make decisions on your future at 16 years old is tough for any teenager – but Luke decided he really wanted to study Countryside Management so he can work for the environment in the places he loves.  A big step – he has had to move away from home to ‘live in’ at College – a steep learning curve for anyone!  His aim is to qualify then move on to study Arboriculture (everything about trees!)

We’re very proud of him for his decision – and admire him for his total commitment and loyalty not only to those he works with, but for all the lives he has touched over the years.  We are certain that he will continue to grow spiritually and make a difference to the world and those within it.
